— GETTING STARTED
First sessions & what to expect.
-
During your first appointment, I will ask you to tell me what you’re struggling with, what success would look like for you at the end of treatment, and any concerns or hesitations you have about being in therapy. I will listen and ask some clarifying questions to get a holistic picture of your life today. At the conclusion of the session, I will provide my diagnostic impression (if desired) and the treatment I recommend. I will also check in with you on your comfort level with me and my approach. If I don’t think I am the best provider for your issue, I will be upfront and give you a referral.
-
The length of time spent in therapy depends on your goals and the complexity of your situation. Either way, we will start with weekly sessions and then reassess throughout treatment as to when I recommend you space out sessions or conclude. This is a conversation that we can have whenever you want and you get to decide how long you want to stay. Many of my clients have been with me for years, coming in for “booster sessions” or mental wellness checkups from time to time or returning for weekly treatment at a turning point in their life, such as coping with new job, a loss, infertility, or parenting.
-
For online therapy, you will click on the link in your reminder email or client portal and be directed to a secure site for your session. That’s it! It’s super easy and if there are any technical difficulties, you can just text me and we can switch to phone or try again.

I have partnered with THRIZERS to help eligible clients use their out-of-network insurance benefits and potentially receive reimbursement for therapy services.
If you'd like to verify your insurance or employee assistance program (EAP) benefits, or learn more about fees and payment options, please complete the insurance verification form and schedule a complimentary consultation.
-
I partner with Thrizer to help simplify the payment and billing process, including support for eligible out-of-network claims.
Out-of-Network Benefits
help reduce the cost of therapy by allowing you to receive reimbursement from your insurance provider for eligible services. Thrizer helps you understand your benefits, estimate potential reimbursement, and simplify the claims process.
Your insurance provider determines claim approval, reimbursement amounts, and processing timelines.
Claims may remain under review while your insurance provider verifies submitted information and determines eligibility.
If you have not met your deductible, your claim may apply toward your deductible rather than result in reimbursement.
— EVALUATIONS
-
A structured process that helps identify ADHD, learning issues, mood concerns, and more. It’s not about labeling—it’s about understanding how your brain works and what supports you best.
-
The full evaluation process includes ~10 hours of face-to-face time, plus behind-the-scenes analysis. We’ll guide you step-by-step.
-
No. This is a one-time evaluation focused on your cognitive, academic, or emotional functioning—not long-term therapy.
-
Description text I gather in-depth data using standardized tests, observations, and interviews to create a personalized roadmap for understanding and supporting your child.
-
Psychoeducational testing (sometimes called a child evaluation or learning disability testing) is a thorough process that helps identify:
ADHD or executive functioning issues
Learning differences like dyslexia or processing disorders
Anxiety, depression, or behavioral concerns
Giftedness or advanced academic needs
-
My evaluations are child-friendly and structured to reduce stress. No grades. No pressure. Just meaningful insight.
Here’s what the process includes:
Parent and child interviews to understand your concerns and history
Behavioral observations during testing
Standardized cognitive, academic, and emotional testing
Feedback session and written report with clear, actionable recommendations
-
Of course! I will offer guidance on how to use the results to pursue school accommodations like IEPs or 504 plans, if needed.
-
Private evaluations offer more depth than basic screenings or primary care visits. They also provide more clarity about your unique learning or thinking style and a deeper, more compassionate understanding of self. Lastly, should it be necessary, I can provide documentation you can use for workplace accommodations or academic support.
-
It’s normal to feel nervous, but getting answers is powerful. Whether the issue is academic, emotional, or behavioral, testing can give you a clear path forward
-
It’s normal to fear the unknown—but clarity can be deeply relieving. Most clients feel empowered, not discouraged, after receiving results.
-
Yes. Your results are private and shared only with your permission.
-
My goal is not to label but rather to explain and empower. The results help you understand what your child needs to succeed — not define who they are.
-
Every child is different. After completing a full evaluation, we can discuss whether your child may benefit from certain types of medication. As a psychologist (and not an MD), however, I cannot prescribe any medications. Ultimately, it always the decision of the parent and the child’s medical practitioner whether or not to medicate.
Psychological & psychoeducational testing.

Privacy & the practical stuff.
-
Yes. Your privacy and confidentiality are a top priority. Information shared during therapy is kept confidential and protected in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), applicable federal and state laws, and professional ethical standards governing psychological care.
